Sergio Busquets arrived in Miami alongside Messi this summer and was substituted on at the same time as both former Barcelona heroes made their inaugural appearances for their new team.

Whilst he did not score or assist, Busquets displayed the class that he so often showed over his glittering career, and his performance against Cruz Azul must not be understated.

A highlights reel of his performance which saw him appear in the 54th minute of the game has now emerged, and it is clear that he still possesses top-class quality. He picked out a number of incredible passes, and was confident on the ball, playing his important, but perhaps not standout role at the base of midfield.

How good was Busquets on his debut?

Inter Miami recorded a much-needed win over Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup which was capped off by Messi’s dramatic free kick, but Busquets was also sensational in his cameo.

Busquets established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders of all time during his career at Barcelona, and this was the first time he appeared in a club game without wearing a Barcelona shirt.

The 35-year-old is in Miami for a fresh challenge in a different league, and watching him link up with Messi again after a few years apart is bound to cause a lot of excitement amongst the Inter Miami fanbase.

Busquets is set to make his MLS debut against Atlanta on Wednesday, and his arrival will surely help the club move off the bottom of the table in the coming weeks.
