Robert Taylor has praised Luis Suarez after the Inter Miami striker’s ‘perfect’ assist for the Finnish winger against Nashville SC.

The 37-year-old striker returned to the starting XI alongside Lionel Messi after being rested on Sunday against CF Montreal, with Suarez making an immediate impact against Nashville.

The Uruguay striker scored in the opening ten minutes before playing in an incredible cross for Taylor to head in the second-half, securing a 3-1 Inter Miami win and progressing in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

And speaking to the Miami Herald after the game, Taylor was full of praise for Suarez after the attacker’s assist for the Inter Miami star, with the veteran forward looking like his best already for the Herons.

Indeed, there were fears at the start of the season that Suarez’s fitness will get the better of the striker, yet recent performances has dispelled this myth almost immediately.

Taylor said on his crucial goal to send Inter Miami through against Nashville: “Suarez got the ball and he has the composure to pick out the right pass.

“I cannot remember who made the run across to create space for me, but it was a perfect ball from [Suarez’ to me and I finally got my header in.”

Concerns over Suarez’s fitness heading into the 2024 season were quite real given how sluggish the Uruguay international looked over pre-season for his new team.

Yet these fears have now quickly evaporated with Suarez looking strong and fit whilst also putting in some fantastic performances for Inter Miami already this season.

The former FC Barcelona and Liverpool star looks settled at Inter Miami alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets, and Suarez’s form will be key for the Herons in the early stages of the campaign.
