Taylor Twellman was blown away by Lionel Messi in Inter Miami’s final pre-season friendly against Newell’s Old Boys.
The Herons captain was named in the starting XI alongside Luis Suarez as Tata Martino named a strong team to face Argentina side Newell’s Old Boys, the club where Messi started his career.
It was a night of celebration and entertainment for supporters, yet as always, it was Messi who stole the show in South Florida, with the attacker looking lively throughout the match.

And speaking on Apple TV’s coverage of the match, pundit Twellman was left mesmerized after one moment from Messi in the opening half, where the forward dribbled past five opposing players with ease.
Twellman said about Messi’s moment of magic for Inter Miami against Newell’s Old Boys: “There’s four, five defenders around him, but it doesn’t matter.
“Even at the age of 36, his ability to glide by defenders and just pick up that little extra notch to get by the defenders, what a fantastic run.”
Lionel Messi showed vs Newell’s Old Boys why Inter Miami mean business

Messi started his first game for Inter Miami since the Herons’ 4-3 loss to Al-Hilal back in Saudi Arabia, and the forward showed why MLS could be in for a wake-up call this year.
Whilst Messi wasn’t at his electric best against Newell’s Old Boys, the forward was still one of the most dangerous players on the pitch and Inter Miami’s main creative spark.
Whilst most chances fell to Suarez and Diego Gomez, Messi’s link-up play once again showed why the South American is going to be the biggest threat out there for most MLS clubs.
And if Messi can stay fit, there’s no telling how far Inter Miami can go this season, with the Argentine still at the top of his game.
