Toronto FC playmaker Victor Vazquez has predicted Lionel Messi to feature tomorrow night for Inter Miami.

Speaking to the press, the 36-year-old midfielder made the claim that his former FC Barcelona academy teammate is likely to play for Inter Miami in Florida on Wednesday night.

Messi was absent from Inter Miami’s 5-2 loss against Atlanta United on the weekend having picked up a small injury whilst on international duty with Argentina.

Yet there’s a chance that Messi could now be back this week to face Toronto, with Inter Miami keen to return to winning ways after suffering their first defeat under Tata Martino on Saturday.

And Vazquez thinks Messi will make an appearance, with the Toronto star saying: “I think he’s going to be ready Wednesday because he plays in front of his fans again.

“And also because they can’t miss more points. They need the points, we really need it also. That’s why I say it’s going to be a fun game for us and for the supporters.”

Inter Miami’s playoff hopes lie on Messi’s fitness, yet with a home game against Toronto this week, Martino could again decide to rest the Argentine given the nature of the fixture.

The Canadian side have been one of the worst clubs in MLS this season, and even without Messi, Inter Miami should enough quality to get the better of Toronto.

Moreover, keeping Messi even fresher for harder games down the road will lead to Inter Miami picking up points when they need it most, with the Florida franchise having enough already to get something against Toronto.
