CBS Sports pundit Charlie Davies has claimed he knows what Inter Miami’s biggest weakness currently is.
The Herons have been magnificent since being knocked out of CONCACAF Champions Cup, with Inter Miami winning their last five games and making the top spot of the MLS Supporters’ Shield standings their own.
With Lionel Messi breaking records on what feels like a weekly basis, Inter Miami look unstoppable with the Argentine in the squad, with new signing Matias Rojas now also starting to perform having joined last month.
Yet Davies thinks Inter Miami have one glaring weakness that needs addressing.

Inter Miami’s defense lacks the pace to keep up with attackers
Speaking on Morning Footy, the former USA international pointed out that Inter Miami’s defenders keep getting caught out by their lack of pace, with the Herons conceding goals too easily.
Having gone down in each of their last five wins, it’s clear that Inter Miami need to address the backline heading into the summer, with the current options simply not good enough to keep up with MLS attackers.
Davies said: “We’ve talked about Inter Miami’s lack of pace in their backline, when they’re facing their own goal, you really question them, because they play a high line, and for any team [facing Inter Miami], this goal is the blueprint.
“Just stretch them, make late runs out of midfield, and just play in behind, test their speed, and I think that’s their real weakness, that backline is so shaky.”

A new defender is a must for Inter Miami this summer
With the summer transfer window on the horizon, Inter Miami know they need to get business sorted in the defensive department if they’re to really challenge for MLS Cup.
And it’s clear that a lack of pace is becoming a real issue for the Herons, who keep getting found out with similar passes from opposing teams that are leading to easy goals.
With targets lined up, though, Inter Miami might be at work as we speak to bring in a new center-back for the summer, which could be all the Florida franchise needs to achieve their true best form.
