Inter Miami took MLS media day in a big way!
Gathered at Miami’s historic Convention Center on Miami Beach, Major League Soccer hosted its annual media day.
Though Lionel Messi wasn’t present, the press got their fair share of intriguing quotes that would interest the public.
Speaking to the Miami Herald, Miami midfielder Sergio Busquets spoke about a variety of topics including Miami’s ‘superteam,’ life in the United States, and comparing La Liga to MLS.
Inter Miami is Barcelona South

Busquets’ arrival to MLS has been quietly understated.
Though he’s 35 years old, he is undoubtedly the metronome that makes Miami’s midfield tick.
Speaking to the media, the ex-Spain international revealed his thoughts on MLS as a league and whether it’s comparable to La Liga.
“I think [MLS] a very good league, way more than people think…the level of the league is not equal to the Spanish league (La Liga), but it’s similar.”
Though many may disagree with his assessment, Busquets is one of the greatest players of all time in his position. During the latter half of last season, the 35-year-old started to feel the difficulties of the league as he started to look slow and sluggish.
That had much to do with Miami’s jam-packed schedule, but it’s refreshing to see honesty from the ex-Barcelona captain.

Ultimately, though MLS may be easier than La Liga, that doesn’t mean Inter Miami won’t face competition. Many pundits and fans around the league believe that Miami is the favorite to challenge for MLS Cup.
Despite the squad’s age, there’s still plenty of talent on the squad to make a real challenge for silverware.
As preseason gets set to kick off on January 13th, the Herons look ready for anything that comes their way.
