Felipe Melo has lauded Lionel Messi’s quality as a player after the Inter Miami star won a historic eighth Ballon d’Or last month.
The Argentine international has not dropped one bit since making the move to MLS this summer, with Messi becoming the first active player in the league to win the Ballon d’Or.
And now, former Brazil international and Juventus star Melo has praised just how good the forward is via TyC Sports, with Messi as world-class as he was ten years ago during his FC Barcelona days.

Indeed, whilst fitness issues are now becoming a problem for Messi, the Argentine remains one of the best in the world, with Melo astonished that age is yet to catch up to the attacker.
Melo said: “Messi doesn’t have the speed he had a few years ago, but he has much more vision of the game and better things than before.
“He’s still the best player in the world. It’s crazy. That’s why he won the Ballon d’Or.”
Inter Miami are yet to see the best of Lionel Messi

Inter Miami haven’t been short of incredible Messi moments despite being at the club for just a few months, yet there’s a feeling that we’re yet to see the best from the forward.
The 36-year-old has been dealing with injuries having arrived without a full pre-season under his belt, something Inter Miami will aim to get right this winter.
And heading into 2024, Messi could finally be at his best yet again, with the Herons looking to make even more history in both MLS and in the CONCACAF Champions League.
