Yesterday, Inter Miami announced that they have signed Canadian national team defender Kamal Miller to a contract extension through the 2026 season, with an option for 2027.
Miller, who was acquired by Inter Miami in a trade with CF Montreal in early April, has been a mainstay in the Heron’s defense since coming over from Canada. In just over 30 appearances for Inter Miami, Miller has racked up over 63 clearances, 26 interceptions and maintained an 88% pass completion rate, forming a solid center-back partnership with Serhiy Kryvtsov.
The defender was also a crucial player during Inter Miami’s run to the Leagues Cup Final, starting every game of the campaign.
In a press release, Miller spoke about re-signing with the club and how pleased he is to commit his future with the team.
“I feel very happy to extend my contract with the Club. Since I was traded here in April, the fans have welcomed me and made me feel at home. I’m very happy to stay.”

Laying the building blocks for the future
At only 26 years old, Miller is part of a promising group of young players, which includes the likes of Leonardo Campana, Drake Callender, Facundo Farias, Tomas Aviles, Diego Gomez, Noah Allen, Benjamin Cremaschi, David Ruiz, and more that Inter Miami will rely on to build upon their success after Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba depart from the club in two years.
Despite his age, Miller also has a wealth of experience. Last December, the center-back was called up to the Canadian national team to represent his country in the FIFA World Cup, playing in all three matches in the group stage.
Locking Miller down for the long term shows Inter Miami values its highly-rated young talent, just as much as the superstars they bring in.
