Inter Miami’s 2024 season came to a disappointing end, yet one player who was impressive throughout the year was Jordi Alba.
The former FC Barcelona and Spain international signed for the Herons last summer alongside Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets, with Alba’s arrival somewhat going under the radar given the reputation of Inter Miami’s other two marquee signings last year.
Despite this, the left-back enjoyed a fantastic season for the Florida franchise under Tata Martino, with Alba just one of two Inter Miami players to be named in the MLS Best XI for 2024 as the Herons won the Supporters’ Shield.
And Alba’s form has been rewarded with a new one-year contract, with Inter Miami fans taking to social media to celebrate the news.

With Alba named as one of the handful of Inter Miami players who will be staying on for 2025 under new manager Javier Mascherano, supporters on social media were pleased with the news surrounding the veteran defender.
As well as Alba, Inter Miami exercised options for Yannick Bright, Leo Afonso and Ian Fray, with Marcelo Weigandt’s loan deal becoming permanent as the Argentine defender joins for the 2025 season from Boca Juniors.

Alba is one of the most decorated players in soccer history as well as a key figure in Barcelona and Spain’s recent history, with the defender regarded as one of the best fullbacks ever for good reason.
