Inter Miami supporters have threatened to stage a minor protest over rising season ticket prices.

According to a report from the Miami Herald, La Familia threatened to withhold instruments, banners, flags, and chants to protest the increase in ticket prices for 2024 during Saturday night’s match against FC Cincinnati.

Last week, the team sent out an email to fans showing a nearly 400 US dollar increase for next year.

This stunned and enraged Inter Miami’s most ardent fans, with many supporters preparing to boycott. The Herald claimed that five Miami fan groups were set to protest during the team’s match against Cincinnati, but backed out due to the club offering a myriad of supporter-specific perks including a photo with the Leagues Cup trophy.

Last season, tickets for the supporter’s stand were an average of 480 dollars, in the 2024 season they’re expected to jump to $884.

After the signings of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, Inter Miami’s single-game tickets have also gotten pricey with the average seat going for around 160 dollars per game.

Original Inter Miami fans priced out

Though the interest in Inter Miami has grown over the last few months with the signings of Messi, Busquets, and Alba, the increase in prices has priced out original fans who have supported the team in the beginning.

The planned boycotts and protests are natural, as fans want to make their voices known. It remains to be seen if they will work, however.

As Inter Miami’s global prowess continues to rise, so will their expenses. Fans are the soul of football clubs and without their passion, the sport is incomplete. It’s unfortunate that fans will be priced out. Hopefully, the team and supporters will be able to find common ground as they head into 2024.
