Inter Miami’s new ground is slowly taking shape.
The team’s new stadium project, Miami Freedom Park continues to have grass, dirt, and debris cleared out in preparation for construction.
On October 17th, new photos and information about the site were published, showing the progress the team has been making.
Inter Miami currently plays their home matches at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida – 32 miles (ca. 51 km) outside the city of Miami.
The Herons plan on moving to Miami Freedom Park by 2025 if construction goes to plan. The team recently announced in a press release that they intend to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the stadium, scheduled for later this year.
Miami managing owner Jorge Mas has been working to get a stadium constructed in Miami for nearly a decade. Since joining the ownership group, Mas has been working alongside co-owner David Beckham and the city of Miami to bring a world-class football stadium to South Florida.
Unfortunately, due to behind-the-scenes pressure, the journey was difficult.
But on April 28th, 2022 Mas finally received approval from several Miami City commissioners to build a 25,000-seat stadium next to Miami International Airport:”[It’s] an amazing day for the voters of our city, for the fans of football in Inter Miami and I want to sincerely thank the Commissioner, the Mayor and everyone who was involved in this process.”
Inter Miami moves back to…Miami

Though DRV PNK Stadium is a serviceable facility, with Messi on the team, it’s not nearly big enough to hold all the demand.
Inter Miami is an ambitious team.
They’ll want to continue the success that saw them win their first trophy in club history this summer.
Fortunately, it will only be two years until they get to move into their new stadium. With luck, Messi will still be on the roster long enough for the Herons to fly into the team’s second home.
Ultimately, despite the difficulties and trials, Inter Miami’s ownership group was able to get the deal across the line when it mattered.
