Lionel Messi has made breaking MLS records almost a weekly occurrence since joining Inter Miami last year.
The Argentine international has this season alone set the record for the most assists recorded in a single game along with the most goal contributions made in a single game, with Messi likely to break more accolades before the end of the year.
With Inter Miami heading into the MLS play-offs, Messi will be determined to break ever record possible with the Herons the strong favorites to win MLS Cup, a title that will extend the 37-year-old’s trophy cabinet to an even larger record-breaking number.
Yet last night against Atlanta United saw an Inter Miami player beat Messi to an impressive club record.

Leonardo Campana beats Messi in becoming Inter Miami’s all-time leading goalscorer
In scoring a deflected free-kick at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Leonardo Campana became Inter Miami’s all-time leading goalscorer with 30 goals in all competitions, replacing Gonzalo Higuain at the top of the standings.
With Messi and Luis Suarez likely to replace Campana eventually at the top of the Inter Miami scoring charts, though, it might not be long before the Ecuador international is kicked from his perch having put in the hard work to reach this record.
However, the former Wolves man can feel proud in replacing a club legend in Higuain at the top of the standings, with many expecting Messi to be the man to beat the former Argentina international for first place.
Indeed, Campana has been an unsung hero for Inter Miami this season as attacking cover for Messi and Suarez, and the 24-year-old attacker can feel proud of his achievements this season given the competition he currently faces.

Campana has been crucial for Inter Miami this season
With 30 goals in all competitions for Inter Miami since joining, Campana has really shown his worth as a top MLS player despite facing the strongest competition out of any position in the division.
And Campana has more than deserved his historic accolade with Inter Miami, with the Ecuador international a key figure for the Herons both on and off the pitch.
Whilst Messi and Suarez are likely to overtake Campana sooner rather than later in the all-time goalscoring standings, the 24-year-old has left his mark on Inter Miami history this season, and the striker will feel proud with his achievements.
