Julian Gressel has detailed what he’s learnt already from playing with Sergio Busquets since moving to Inter Miami this January.

The USA international joined the Herons as a free-agent having won MLS Cup last season with the Columbus Crew, with Gressel reuniting with Tata Martino this winter at Inter Miami.

Starting the first three games of the new MLS season, Gressel has taken to life in Florida like a duck to water, with the versatile winger impressing in midfield on Saturday against Orlando City.

And speaking on the Player/Manager podcast, Gressel has already revealed that he has learnt a lot from playing with Busquets in the midfield, with the pair forming quite the duo at Inter Miami.

Gressel said when asked what he’s learned already from Busquets: “Playing alongside Busquets, there’s moments in the game where he’s like ‘I move here, you go there’.

“There were a lot of moments where he dropped between the center-backs and I dropped into his position, and we’d play off each other.

“Ever since I’ve moved into midfield, he’s giving me pointers or something that I can take and learn from and become better from, it’s incredible.”

Whilst Luis Suarez stole headlines this winter as Inter Miami’s star signing, many who have watched MLS will agree that the best new arrival this year could come in the form of Gressel.

The versatile winger is one of the most consistent players in MLS in recent years and is a two-time champion with Columbus and Atlanta United, an experience that could be vital this season.

And the prospect of Gressel somehow getting better is one that should excite supporters, with the Germany-born MLS star a player who could be key in Inter Miami’s potential success later this year.
