The Uruguay international scored a brace as the Herons made a huge step in their quest to win the Supporters’ Shield, with Inter Miami also booking their ticket to the MLS play-offs at the earliest possible stage.
With Lionel Messi missing since early June, Inter Miami’s run this summer has been nothing short of impressive, with Suarez leading the Florida franchise to the play-offs in emphatic fashion against one of the best teams in MLS in Cincinnati.
And Inter Miami star Drake Callender has shared what he’s noticed about Suarez after the win.
Callender praises Suarez’s all-round game after Inter Miami win
Speaking to the press after last night’s win, Callender lauded his striking teammate on how much Suarez has improved Inter Miami’s attacking ranks with his versatility and his ability to create chances out of nothing.
At 37-years-old, Suarez is firmly coming to the end of his incredible career, and for Callender, the former FC Barcelona superstar is adding something that no forward on the planet could offer Inter Miami this season.
Callender said when asked about Suarez’s performance against Cincinnati: “He’s come into the team, scored a lot of goals, been a playmaker, so for him to add goals to his tally is massive for us.
“It just shows his class, his intelligence and how smart he is as a player. For him to be competing at this level at his age shows how much of a professional he is. That’s what he’s done his whole career.”
Suarez is proving a lot of doubters wrong in MLS
Suarez’s move to Inter Miami at the start of the year was met with some criticism given how many fitness problems the veteran striker had coming into a league as famously intense as MLS.
Yet this season, Suarez has proved the doubters wrong and then some, with the Uruguay international Inter Miami’s leading goalscorer in all competitions and a real talisman for the Herons with Messi out injured.
With the play-offs secured, Suarez will be rested ahead of the post-season, and Inter Miami will hope the forward can take his game to another level when crunch time is finally upon us.
