Inter Miami star who blew pundits away last month could miss New York Red Bulls clash

Inter Miami could reportedly be without Leonardo Campana for this weekend’s MLS clash against the New York Red Bulls through injury.

The 23-year-old striker has found a good niche for himself at the Herons in the Lionel Messi era of the club, with Tata Martino often turning to Campana to replace the Argentine if the forward is unavailable.

And performances this season have been impressive, with Campana winning praise during pre-season last month as the former Wolves man has already bagged two goals and an assist this campaign.

However, according to the Miami Herald, Campana could miss this weekend’s trip to New Jersey due to an adductor strain, with the Ecuador international missing Wednesday’s training session.

With Messi again out injured and Luis Suarez unlikely to be risked from the start, Martino finds himself with a real problem over who can start in the attack against the Red Bulls.

Indeed, Campana’s form and recent performance against DC United would have made the Inter Miami striker the ideal player to enjoy another good display on the road.

Yet with Campana now a doubt, Martino has a big task on his hands to construct an attack that can get the job done against the Red Bulls, with options limited.

Campana had been in good form heading into this weekend’s clash against the Red Bulls, with the forward proving he has the quality to thrive alongside the best in this Inter Miami side.

Which is why this latest injury is such a blow for the striker, who heading into Saturday’s tie in New Jersey would have felt confident in putting on another good performance.

Whilst Campana’s injury isn’t serious, missing this tie with Messi due to return next week is annoying for the forward, who might not be named in the starting XI for quite some time.
