Inter Miami has another gem in its hands.

Young midfielder Diego Gomez has been on a roll. Just recently, the 20-year-old captained Paraguay’s U23s to a monster 4-3 win over Uruguay, scoring twice and assisting once during the process.

Gomez signed with the Herons last summer and put on performances to varying success. The fan base was hard on him and many believed that he would be relegated to the bench. But, these recent performances show that he could be in line to start in Miami’s midfield.

Inter Miami has a solid group of young players that will pair nicely with Miami’s aging Big 4.

“Tyler has shown tremendous promise since he joined the Club years ago, and we’re very happy to see him fulfill the dream of every Academy player in making this step to a First Team contract,” said Club CSO Chris Henderson about Academy graduate Tyler Hall.

“He has proven himself to be a high-quality young player and a budding leader, and we are excited to continue his development at the MLS level.”

Benjamin Cremaschi, the aforementioned Gomez and Hall, Noah Allen, Ian Fray, Lawson Sunderland, Tomas Aviles, Israel Boatwright, and the injured Facundo Farias all contributed meaningful minutes for Miami last year besides the Homegrowns that were signed recently.

Though many fans and pundits may focus on Miami’s older star players, the youth must get some love as well.

Ultimately, these youthful foundations will be the key to Miami’s longevity if they want to challenge for multiple trophies.
