Inter Miami have suffered a potentially serious injury blow after Sergio Busquets was brought off injured early on against Vissel Kobe.

The Spanish midfielder has been ever-present for the Herons since joining last summer, with Busquets‘ fitness regarded as one of the former FC Barcelona star’s best qualities.

Yet there could now be a real chance that Busquets spends some time out on the injury table after being on the receiving end of a nasty tackle against Vissel Kobe.

As per the Athletic’s Paul Tenorio from Tokyo, the 35-year-old midfielder ‘headed for the locker rooms’ after being caught on the ankle by Vissel Kobe striker Yuya Osako.

With Lionel Messi already nursing a calf problem and Inter Miami youngsters Facundo Farias and Benja Cremaschi already out on the injury table, Busquets going off is a sight nobody wanted to see.

And with just two weeks to go until the start of the 2024 MLS season, Inter Miami’s medical team and coaches will be hopeful that Busquets will be fit enough in time to start the opener.

Inter Miami simply can’t lose Sergio Busquets to injury already

Inter Miami knew embarking on a worldwide pre-season tour was always going to increase the odds of key players getting injured and picking up fitness problems.

And Busquets’ potential injury would be a testament to that statement, with the midfielder coming off against Vissel Kobe a sign that the MLS star could have something quite serious.

Whilst no official comment has been made yet about the nature of Busquets’ injury, there’s every chance that the Inter Miami star could be out on the treatment table for some time.

And if such an outcome turns out to be true, Inter Miami have a massive problem on their hands, with Busquets a player who the Herons will find impossible to replace.
