Inter Miami will be giving Lionel Messi a warm congratulations.
On November 3rd, the club announced that they’ll be replacing the canceled China friendlies with an exhibition match vs. Eastern Conference rivals NYCFC.
Set to take place on November 10th, the match will also be a commemorative event, honoring Messi’s Ballon d’Or triumph.
Dubbed ‘Noche d’Or’, this will be the first game the Herons will play since the October 21st loss against Charlotte FC.
Miami ended the season missing out on the playoffs, despite winning its first trophy in club history in the summer. Since then, the team failed to recreate that electric summer form, which ultimately led to the men in pink out of the post-season.
Similar to Inter Miami, NYCFC missed out on the playoffs as well. The Pigeons will travel to South Florida looking to kick-start their 2024 off-season.
It remains to be seen if fans will be able to take a photo with the award during the event. Additionally, tickets for the game have reached prices of over $400 USD.
Night to remember for Inter Miami
The match will be a celebration of Messi’s career achievements.
Since signing with Inter Miami in the summer, the Argentine has not only led the team to its first trophy in club history but also transformed the organization into one of the most popular brands in North America.
Although many may see the night as over the top, it’s an appropriate extravaganza for a player of Messi’s stature.
As the team pivots to 2024, Miami will want to continue the good vibes and challenge for more silverware.
With a full off-season of rest for Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, in addition to Luis Suárez joining the team, the Herons are looking dangerous heading into next year.
