Inter Miami boss Javier Mascherano has spoken openly about his squad “worries” ahead of the new MLS season.
The Argentine manager spoke during the MLS Media Day and explained how the side was looking for “reinforcements.”
The Herons have signed former Vancouver Whitecaps star Fafa Picault and Inter Miami have just agreed on a deal for Casa Pia’s Telasco Segovia.
Inter Miami is said to be close to another January signing, defender Gonzalo Lujan, but considering the outgoings more will need to be done.

Mascherano highlights need for signings
It has not gone unnoticed that Inter Miami have offloaded a lot of players during the offseason, yet they haven’t been replaced.
The two notable absences have seen Diego Gomez join Brighton and Hove Albion and Leo Campana head to the New England Revolution.
However, Herons fans were unhappy when Matias Rojas left, CJ dos Santos and Franco Negri both joined new MLS side San Diego FC and defender Nicolas Freire has also left Inter Miami.
Speaking about the side’s lack of numbers Mascherano highlighted his concerns ahead of the team’s first pre-season match against Club America, which is on January 19th.
He said: “I’m worried about getting these transfers in before because we are going to need guys. 11 to start and many to come in as a substitute.”
Inter Miami transfer troubles revealed
Despite Inter Miami being handed a major Neymar boost the urgency for signings to happen quickly is greater than ever.
While it is great to be linked with the likes of Mohammed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne the side needs to look at more realistic targets with the new MLS season closing in.
Mascherano spoke honestly about the issues the club have had in bringing in new faces, saying: “We’ve had several losses due to loans that have ended due to some sales, including people that we haven’t been able to renew.
“We’re trying to finish closing some additions. I have faith and I’m almost certain that in these days they’ll be finishing closing some reinforcements that we’ve asked for. And from that, start to give shape to the squad in order to start the preseason.”
The club is in need of numbers as Inter Miami faces a tough opening MLS fixture against New York City FC.
