Josef Martinez has detailed Lionel Messi’s energy in Inter Miami training as ‘amazing’ having now settled at his new team.
Speaking on CBS Sports’ Morning Footy, the MLS striker revealed that the Argentine superstar has increased everyone’s game in training, with Messi bringing the best out of his Inter Miami teammates.
Martinez has struck up a great partnership with Messi since the forward’s arrival to Florida last month, with the pair seemingly forging a good relationship on and off the pitch.
Inter Miami are yet to lose since Messi made his debut last month in the Leagues Cup group stage, with the Herons now potential favorites for the entire competition.
Messi has elevated Inter Miami’s players to a level few would have thought possible, and Martinez has loved the energy the forward has brought to the club this summer.
The attacker said: “Amazing. He’s won everything in soccer and has that competitive energy. We have to be closer to them because they push you in a good way, and that’s good for competition.”
Messi has improved Inter Miami beyond his own qualities
Messi’s otherworldly qualities are enough to elevate Inter Miami from one of the worst teams in MLS to something functional, yet the Argentine’s impact on everyone else has been clear to say.
The likes of Martinez and Robert Taylor have benefited greatly from playing and training alongside Messi, and Inter Miami’s form is a testament to that claim.
Whilst there is some serious work to do, Messi’s presence and quality in training is already producing results, and the sky really is the limit for the Herons in the years to come.
