Kieran Gibbs has voiced his confusion over what Sergio Busquets did on Saturday for Inter Miami against the New England Revolution.
The 35-year-old midfielder was again influential for the Herons as Inter Miami secured a 4-1 win against the Revs, with Busquets assisting Lionel Messi as the Argentine superstar scored twice on the night.
With Inter Miami sitting clear at the top of the MLS Supporters’ Shield standings, Messi’s return to full fitness has seen Tata Martino’s side go on an impressive three-game winning streak, with Benjamin Cremaschi and Robert Taylor also returning from injury.
Yet Gibbs was blown away and confused by one moment from Busquets against New England

Gibbs ‘not quite sure’ how Busquets saw Messi for Inter Miami goal
Speaking on the Inter Miami Weekly Show, the former Herons defender pointed out how incredible Busquets’ pass to Messi was against New England, with the midfielder somehow spotting the Argentine through a sea of bodies.
It was one of the best assists of the season from an Inter Miami player and a moment that encapsulated just how good Busquets can be on his day with space to operate and runners like Messi to feed into.
Yet even still, the veteran midfielder’s pass was a one-of-a-kind special, and Gibbs was utterly blown away by what he saw from Busquets against New England on Saturday.
Gibbs said: “I’m just not quite sure how Sergio Busquets sees Messi, I know he’s always looking for him, but when you see the replay, it’s almost like he just plays the pass blindly, but the weight is excellent, and it’s a wonderful play from Busquets.”

Busquets needs to show his passing range more for the Herons
Busquets is no stranger to a world-class pass, yet whilst the midfielder has kept the center of the pitch neat and tidy, we’re yet to really see the former FC Barcelona captain really showcase his range with the ball.
Saturday, of course, was a real glimpse into what Busquets can do when players are making the right runs and the space is there to exploit, and Inter Miami fans should be demanding more from the midfielder.
Indeed, Busquets’ talent is one of the most unique in all of MLS, and the Herons will want to get everything possible out of the midfielder whilst he still has energy in his legs to produce magic.
