The 23-year-old midfielder was one of the Galaxy’s top performers in Carson this weekend as the MLS giants came close to securing a famous win against Messi and Inter Miami.

LA Galaxy star Edwin Cerrillo reveals ‘special’ Lionel Messi moment vs Inter Miami

And speaking to journalist Andy Deossa, Cerrillo admitted that he reveled in a moment during the game that saw the midfielder confront Messi, with Alba joining in on protecting his teammate.
It was a feisty affair in California with the Galaxy having Marky Delgado sent off for a second yellow card, though replays showed that the LA star was unlucky to receive such a punishment,
Yet as per Cerrillo, the occasion was perfect for a combative defensive midfielder, and the youngster sounded genuinely pleased to get on Messi’s bad side after the fixture.
Cerrillo said when asked about his confrontation with Messi: “I’m not one to back down, I kind of blacked out in the moment. That was a special moment for me, not for him.”
Lionel Messi can’t let MLS rivals disgrace him this season

For most MLS clubs and players, Messi and Inter Miami coming to town will be a chance to rake in some serious cash and to gain some reputation by taking on the greatest of all time.
Yet for Messi and Inter Miami, they can’t allow rival clubs and player to disgrace their brand and to overlook their real objective this season, that being to win MLS Cup and everything in between.
And the likes of Cerrillo enjoying confronting Messi will do just that, with Inter Miami in a position where their star player can’t be allowed to become some sort of point-scoring figure for rivals in MLS.
