Lionel Messi could win another piece of silverware for Argentina.

According to reports out of the South American country, Argentina’s U23 manager Javier Mascherano is urging the World Cup winner to consider joining the squad should they qualify for the Olympics.

“I have been asked about it and of course, Leo has the doors open to the national team to do what he wants,” Mascherano told EFE in October.

“I am very good friends with him and I would love it. The reality is that we first have to qualify.”

It remains to be seen if the 36-year-old will play in the Olympics, seeing as though it will overlap with his schedule for Inter Miami.

Inter Miami has laid the foundation for a successful 2024. Not only have they brought in the likes of striker Luis Suarez, wing back Julian Gressel and soon to be center back Nicolas Freire.

Though there’s time before the season starts, the Herons will be without Messi during the Copa America.

All in all, Miami will still be in prime position to win more silverware. 2024 will be an exciting time for Miami supporters. With preseason in full swing, it’s only a matter of time before the new year kicks off.
