Lionel Messi has now shared when he could be back for Inter Miami after picking up an injury in the Copa America final with Argentina.

The 37-year-old attacker twisted his ankle at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida in Argentina’s 1-0 win against Colombia, with Messi leaving the pitch in tears, as national team manager Lionel Scaloni shared that the Inter Miami star wanted to continue playing.

With Messi’s presence at MLS All-Star week now up in the air, there’s a real chance that the veteran attacker could be out of action for some time given how weird Inter Miami’s upcoming schedule now is.

Yet the forward himself has now addressed his injury on social media.

Messi believes he will be back for Inter Miami ‘soon’ despite ankle injury

Taking to Instagram, the reigning Ballon d’Or holder revealed that he will do all he can to recover and to return to the pitch as soon as possible, with Inter Miami likely to give their star player as much time off as needed to heal.

Messi wrote: “Copa America is over, and I want to thank everyone for the messages and greetings. I’m doing well, thank God, and hopefully, soon, I will be back on the pitch again enjoying what I love doing most.”

Indeed, Messi’s attitude seems to suggest that the attacker could be back sooner than expected, with the forward’s injury coming at a time when Inter Miami have just two MLS fixtures between now and the end of August.

And with Messi confident he’ll be back soon, there could be a real chance that Inter Miami will have their superstar attacker back in time for Leagues Cup, a title the Herons will be looking to defend this year.

Herons have to be patient with Messi this summer

Inter Miami have cracked the code this season on how to properly rest Messi and how to give him as much time needed as possible to fully recover.

And this summer, the Herons need to be patient with Messi as the attacker looks to recover from his latest ankle injury, with the 37-year-old likely to be given as long as possible to ensure he returns to MLS action as fit as possible.

Inter Miami’s schedule is kind to Messi with so few league games coming up, and as a result, the Florida franchise have to be patient with their captain, who will be itching to return later this summer.
