Luis Suarez has praised Lionel Messi’s decision to move to Inter Miami, with the striker himself linked with a move to Florida.
Speaking to ESPN Brazil, the now-Gremio attacker revealed that he is pleased his former FC Barcelona teammate decided to make the move to Inter Miami having left PSG.
Messi had been linked with a move to MLS for some time, and this summer finally saw the transfer happen as the Argentine superstar signed for Inter Miami in a league-record deal.
And Suarez is pleased to see Messi thriving with his new club, with the attacker already leading Inter Miami to silverware in the Leagues Cup as well as the US Open Cup final.
Suarez said: “I think he made the right decision to go enjoy himself, have a good time, and one more demonstration that it is not only that, but also to continue winning.
“He won a trophy and now he is going to fight another one. That is the mentality of a competitive and winning type.”
Messi has to recruit Suarez for Inter Miami this summer
Messi’s transition to MLS has been seamless and incredible, and the Argentine forward now needs to begin work on bringing Suarez to Florida in January.
The Uruguay striker’s contract with Gremio is due to expire at the end of this year, and a move to Inter Miami could be perfect for Suarez, especially with Messi already at the club.
Indeed, the pair could be lethal in MLS next season if Suarez makes the move to the US, and Messi himself could help push a move if the 36-year-old is keen on reuniting with his former Barcelona partner.
