Messi’s arrival in the States has pushed MLS into the spotlight of world football. The Argentine, is, arguably, the best player of all time, and it’s natural to see his influence on the league.
Before Messi joined, Inter Miami was struggling at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. After his integration into the squad, the Herons went on a 12-game winning streak, clinching their first title in club history in the process.
Though many will want to see Messi fight for more trophies this year, Miami won’t be in the post-season, after failing to pick up enough points to pull themselves above the playoff line.
2024, shows promise, however, with the South Florida club set to revamp its roster in an effort to win MLS Cup next year.
No matter what happens then, it’s apparent that Messi’s impact on the league will leave lasting effects.
