Lionel Messi has been enjoying life after his World Cup triumph.

In a conversation with Disney+ for a documentary about the Argentina National Team named, “Champions, A Year Later,” Messi spoke about the trials he went before winning the award: “I had a bad time. My family and the people who love me did too. [Critics in Argentina] were very unfair to a generation of players and they said a lot of bad things about me. I’m not spiteful.”

The Argentine continued: “I feel it like a triumph for me to have changed that situation and won over all the people of Argentina. Today 95% or 100% of Argentines love me and that’s a beautiful feeling.”

Messi went on to tell Disney+ that it was always his dream to win the World Cup and that he’s at peace with the “sacrifices” he made to achieve the award.

Winning the most coveted prize in world football capped off a wonderful career for the ex-Barcelona man.

The midfielder will now shift his focus to Inter Miami and he and the Herons get prepared for the 2024 season.

Messi’s career has been a privilege to watch. From Barcelona to Miami, the 36-year-old is still showcasing his class in South Florida.

As Inter Miami and Messi head into 2024, more silverware will be on the horizon.

Club Sporting Director Chris Henderson has stated that the organization will be after players that will revamp the squad. Furthermore, a full offseason of rest for Messi will help the Argentine come back stronger than ever.

All in all, 2024 is looking promising for the men in pink.

It remains to be seen if Miami can recreate the summer magic that saw them win the Leagues Cup. But, with Messi on the roster, anything is possible.
