MLS legend Bradley Wright-Phillips has said Inter Miami could win the Supporters Shield this season despite previously claiming the Herons won’t make it.
The Florida franchise currently sit top of the MLS standings after an impressive start to the year, with Inter Miami now the favorites to win the Supporters Shield with the best overall regular season record.
Whilst not the most important trophy for Inter Miami, topping the overall standings would be one heck of an impressive feat given how poorly the Herons did last year in MLS.
Bradley Wright-Phillips makes bold Inter Miami MLS prediction

And speaking on MLS Wrap-Up, league legend Wright-Phillips claimed that Inter Miami need to stop being underestimated, with the Herons getting a big win on the road against DC United without Lionel Messi.
Indeed, winning the Supporters Shield would be quite the achievement for Inter Miami and would give the Herons a berth in the post-season play-offs, something the likes of Messi and Luis Suarez would appreciate.
And experts are now starting to believe that Inter Miami could last the distance this MLS season, especially with the Florida franchise showing they can win without Messi.
Wright-Phillips said: “We have to be realistic, they have Messi and Suarez, I can’t change what I thought, I don’t think they can do this for as long, but I’m fed up with doubting Inter Miami and Messi, I can’t do it anymore, of course they’re in the race [for the Supporters Shield]. They will be in and around for sure.”
Inter Miami might need luck if they’re to win the Supporters Shield

The Supporters Shield is not something MLS sides set out from the start to win, rather the race for the title begins in the home stretch of the regular season.
And with Inter Miami looking good to make it to the playoffs, the Herons might need some luck on their side if they’re to go the extra distance and win the Supporters Shield.
Key players need to remain fit and miss a limited number of games, and Inter Miami’s ageing squad will have to be at their physical best if they’re to survive the slog that is the regular MLS season.
