Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber doesn’t believe Inter Miami ticket prices are too high.

In his annual State of the League address, Garber addressed some concerns about the rising ticket prices due to Lionel Messi’s presence in the league.

“As to whether or not fans are being priced out of experiencing a Lionel Messi game, I don’t believe that’s true,” Garber told the press.

“In the actual market where teams play, teams are selling tickets and those tickets are still reasonable.”

Garber continued, saying that there’s only so much the league can do regarding the secondary ticket market: “We can’t control what happens on the secondary market. And as you know, the secondary market pricing has been very high. I think it speaks to the unique experience of watching Lionel Messi live.”

Messi officially joined Inter Miami on July 15th. The Argentine subsequently led Miami to the Leagues Cup title, the team’s first trophy in club history.

Messi’s talent has brought joyous moments to DRV PNK Stadium. However, there is a slight downside that comes with fielding the best player in the world.

Many of Inter Miami’s original fans feel upset that they’ve been priced out.

Before Messi signed, the average Inter Miami season ticket was around $400 USD. After the Argentine joined the club, season tickets skyrocketed to at least $800.

These prices have shunned the average Miami supporter who’s been following the club since its inception. Though prices don’t seem to be changing anytime soon, what will be changing is Miami’s roster.

2024 will be an exciting year for Miami. Not only are they finalizing a deal to bring Luis Suárez to the club, but the Herons will be active on the trade market as well.

Already, Miami has let go of players Victor Ulloa, Jake LaCava, Dixon Arroyo, and Josef Martinez in anticipation of new incoming players.

Although the South Florida club has yet to sign anyone, it’s only a matter of time before the new signings start piling in.
