Inter Miami are Supporters’ Shield champions after an intense regular season that could end in even more history for the Herons.

Tata Martino’s side are one win away from setting a new MLS regular season points tally, with Inter Miami facing the New England Revolution, the current holders of the accolade, in their final game of the 2024 campaign.

With Lionel Messi back to full fitness and Inter Miami picking up another late win on the road on Saturday against Toronto FC, the Florida franchise are well-placed to secure this new record after the October international break.

And goalkeeper Oscar Ustari says Inter Miami are motivated to make history by winning one more game.

Inter Miami looking to break ‘attractive’ MLS record vs New England

Speaking to MLS’s official website, the veteran Argentine goalkeeper shared that Inter Miami have their sights set on breaking the regular season points record, with the Herons coming just one win away from greatness.

Although Messi is set on the play-offs and winning MLS Cup, setting another record would be a huge moment for Inter Miami given all the Florida franchise have done this year with their star-studded squad.

And Ustari is now motivated to help Inter Miami make even more history, with the former Argentina international only joining the club a few weeks ago to provide competition for Drake Callender between the sticks.

“Inter Miami aspires to important things. The club is achieving them little by little, so breaking the record is always attractive for us and we are going to do everything possible to make it happen.”

Inter Miami know they can make league history against New England

With New England set to end the season with one of the worst records in MLS, Inter Miami look like nailed-on favorites to get the W at Chase Stadium later this month in what could be another historic result for Martino’s side.

Setting a new MLS regular season points record will satisfy Inter Miami greatly and show that the front office were right in their bid to build the roster that this year will set history in America’s premier soccer league.

And heading into the play-offs, securing history will give Inter Miami an extra boost that could come in hand if the Herons are to go all the way in MLS Cup, the title that the Florida franchise will want more than anything this season.
