Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has said he still wants to see Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo play alongside each other.
The two soccer superstar have endured one of the greatest rivalries the sport has ever seen, with Messi and Ronaldo both facing off against each other at the peak of their powers in La Liga.
A former teammate of Ronaldo’s at Madrid, Carvajal knows better than anyone what it’s like to face the two players having done so for years in Spain when Messi was with FC Barcelona.
And speaking to journalist Daniel Habif, the 32-year-old right-back revealed that he would love to see Messi and Ronaldo face off against each other, even with both players at the end of their careers.
Carvajal said: “Messi or Ronaldo? I put them on the same level. I don’t prefer one over the other. They are monsters in every sense of the word, and I could not choose neither this, nor that. I think they are very different.
“Messi is a player who is able to go back, receive the ball, and create attacks, and then he can participate in the play and create. Cristiano is a monster at scoring goals, attacking the area, and finishing. If they were playing together, they would have been explosive. And it would have been interesting to see.”

With Messi causing waves with Inter Miami and Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia, the odds of the two players facing one another seem slim, though it might still be possible.
Post-retirement, there’s every chance that the world will finally get to see Messi feature alongside Ronaldo, with such an event something that every soccer fan around the world would love to see.
Whilst a professional match might be off the table, Messi and Ronaldo seem almost set to play with one another once their days are over, with the duo potentially open to the idea.
