Lionel Messi has reportedly chosen the next team he’ll move to after his Inter Miami contract ends in 2025.
According to a report from Forbes, the World Cup winner will look to move back to his native Argentina and rejoin childhood club Newell’s Old Boys.
Messi played for the Rosario-based team from 1995 to 2000 before joining La Masia, Barcelona’s youth academy.
This report comes months after Messi decided to join Inter Miami on a free transfer.
Messi’s current deal two-and-a-half deal with the team pays him nearly $60 million a year and is set to expire at the end of 2025, with an option for 2026.
In addition to his MLS player contract, Messi will also reportedly receive a stake in ownership once he retires.
Ever since he stepped onto the pitch for Inter Miami, the Argentine has made an immense impact on the team and league. He not only led Miami to their first trophy in club history with the Leagues Cup but also brought attention to Major League Soccer, a league that is still growing and welcoming new fans.
