Luis Suarez could join Inter Miami in the upcoming winter transfer window.
According to a report from MARCA, journalist David G. Medina claims that Suarez will be on his way to South Florida to team back up with Lionel Messi.
This potential reunion has been a long time coming for Miami, Messi, and Suarez. The Herons have been chasing after the Uruguayan since the summer.
Inter Miami managing owner Jorge Mas spoke about the team’s pursuit of the striker back in August. Mas stated that it was too soon to speak about bringing Suarez to the club because he was still under contract: “Luis Suarez is a Gremio player. That’s not up to me, he’s under contract at Gremio with a release clause. He’s been an amazing player, but there’s nothing for me to talk about if he’s a Gremio player.”
Luckily for Mas and Miami, according to Gremio manager Renato Gaucho, the Uruguayan will be leaving the Brazilian side at the end of this year.
If MARCA’s report comes to fruition, then that would give Miami the green light to go after Suarez’s services.
Potential Reunion

Having Suarez on the field may perpetuate the ‘retirement’ league narrative for Miami, but if you look at the striker’s advanced statistics, he’s still playing at a high level.
According to FBref, in over 2,000 minutes played in all competitions for Gremio this season, Suarez is in the 90th percentile of progressive passes, progressive pass receptions, shot-creating actions, and assists.

That’s an extremely high level of attacking play for a 36-year-old.
With these numbers, Suarez has shown that he can still contribute at a top level.
Miami will need his talent and experience as they get set to participate in multiple domestic and international competitions next season.
As the team looks to revamp its roster, Suarez could play a crucial role in Miami’s goal to hunt for more silverware.
