Inter Miami fans may finally have a clearer idea on when they can expect star signing Lionel Messi to be officially unveiled at the club.
They confirmed the deal for the former Barcelona superstar last month following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain, but are still struggling at the bottom of the league and are winless in the last 10 matches.
However, there is reason to be excited, as the date of what could be his grand unveiling has now been revealed, with Adidas stores in Miami being set up for a big event on July 16th.
This means that in just one week, Messi, and potentially Sergio Busquets, could be presented as Inter Miami’s big-name acquisitions.
What can Messi do this season?
Miami are still bottom after 21 games, and a playoff place looks near-impossible for Gerardo Martino’s side.
Assuming Messi makes his debut in August as expected, he will have just 12 games left to help lift Miami off the foot of the table.
With just 22 goals in the 21 matches so far, it is clear that the side are lacking creativity, and the arrival of Messi could certainly help change that.
He could help get the best out of forward Josef Martinez, who has been in good scoring form recently despite the team’s poor results, and creating a deadly attacking partnership could be key for Martino to help fix Miami’s problems.
With no win in 10 games, Messi has a huge task on his hands to restore confidence to Miami, and if he settles quickly, he can give the fans a reason to be excited despite the hugely disappointing season so far.
