Lionel Messi has been tipped with a return to FC Barcelona ever since signing for Inter Miami, and Sergio Aguero now thinks the forward will make the move.

Transfer rumors have not stopped linking the 36-year-old with a dramatic return to the Catalan giants, with David Beckham recently revealing how close Barcelona came to signing Messi this summer.

And speaking to AS, Aguero has now said it is only “a matter of time” before Messi makes the decision to sign for Barcelona, even if current transfer reports suggest otherwise.

With Messi set to lead Inter Miami into 2024, signing for Barcelona seems incredibly unlikely especially with the attacker loving life in Florida with the MLS franchise.

Indeed, at 36, Messi is heading towards the end of his footballing career, and whilst many fans would love to see the forward play one last time for Barcelona, the odds of that happening remain low.

So whilst Aguero might think Messi is heading home, whether or not such a deal will happen seems unlikely, with the attacker seemingly keen to begin return to action with Inter Miami.

Everyone and their mother seems keen on Messi to return back to Europe with the club where it all began for the greatest of all time.

Yet with Aguero now throwing his hat into the ring, it seems crazy to think that Messi would even consider signing for Barcelona given how much Inter Miami put into signing the attacker.

Whilst a testimonial game to finish off his career seems likely, Messi returning to Catalonia with Barcelona is something Inter Miami will put a stop to before it could actually happen.

Moreover, it’s clear that Messi is happy in Florida with the Herons, with 2024 expected to be a massive year for the MLS franchise after a historic 2023.
