Tata Martino has said Lionel Messi is likely to play for Inter Miami this week in the US Open Cup semi-final against FC Cincinnati.
Speaking to the press via the Miami Herald’s Michelle Kaufman, the Argentine coach confirmed that the 36-year-old forward is likely to feature on Wednesday for Inter Miami in their next fixture.
Fresh off winning the Leagues Cup, a lot has been made of if Messi will be given an extended period of rest ahead of the return of MLS action this month.
However, with Inter Miami in the Open Cup semi-final, Messi has seemingly confirmed to Martino that he wants to feature on Wednesday night against Cincinnati.
The fixture will prove to be another chance for Messi to guide Inter Miami to another final, where a historic double is now on the cards for the Herons.
