Tata Martino says Inter Miami star is now ‘so fatigued’ after 2-1 Charlotte win

Tata Martino has detailed how exhausted one Inter Miami player now is after last night’s win against Charlotte FC.

The Florida franchise made it four wins from four since Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez’s departure to the Copa America, with Inter Miami maintaining their lead at the top of the MLS Supporters’ Shield standings with an impressive run of form.

Whilst injuries and suspensions have been a problem for Inter Miami, Martino’s side have gone above and beyond in recent weeks in what fans and pundits expected from the Herons during this period of the season without their two star attackers.

Yet Maritno has now admitted that one player is now starting to feel fatigued.

Federico Redondo rested by Inter Miami vs Charlotte due to tiredness

Speaking to the press after Inter Miami’s win against Charlotte, Martino revealed that midfielder Federico Redondo didn’t make the away trip to North Carolina due to still being tired after Saturday’s away trip to Nashville SC.

The 21-year-old Argentine has struggled for fitness all year since moving to Inter Miami, and Redondo was rested last night with all eyes now on Saturday’s massive Supporters’ Shield clash against FC Cincinnati, where the midfielder will be needed.

Martino said when asked about Redondo’s fitness after the win against Charlotte: “Fede finished the Nashville game a little exhausted, it made sense because it had been a long time since he completed a game.

“We initially planned to have him on the bench against Charlotte because it would have been risky to have him play three games in a week, but because he was so fatigued we decided not to have him on the bench because in a game like this we probably would have used him, that would have been a mistake.”

Inter Miami were right to rest Redondo last night in North Carolina

With Diego Gomez back to full fitness and Yannick Bright proving to be an exception midfield option, giving Redondo the night off was a smart idea from Inter Miami heading into Saturday’s huge MLS clash.

The Argentine has struggled with fitness issues all season and needs to be monitored carefully if Inter Miami are to get the best out of the youngster, who arrived in Florida this winter with a massive reputation from Argentina.

Indeed, Redondo has the potential to be a real game-changer for Inter Miami this season, and keeping the midfielder as fit as possible will be key in Martino’s side going all the way in MLS Cup and for the Supporters’ Shield.
