Apple TV pundit Taylor Twellman has praised Inter Miami’s decision to sign Julian Gressel, with the wide-midfielder joining as a free agent.

The 30-year-old winger has had quite the career in America, with Gressel last season winning MLS Cup with the Columbus Crew having already won the title with Atlanta United under Tata Martino.

Now reunited with the Argentine coach in Florida, Gressel could become an integral part of Inter Miami’s plans this season, with the German-born USA international featuring heavily in pre-season.

And speaking to the Daily Mail, Twellman expressed his admiration for Gressel, with the former New England Revolution star labeling the winger as ‘arguably one of the best crossers of the ball’ in MLS.

Whilst the signing of Luis Suarez has stolen all the headlines at Inter Miami last month, the addition of Gressel could arguably be even more important for the Herons.

And if Martino can find the perfect position and role for Gressel in this Inter Miami squad, there’s no telling how good the winger could become alongside the likes of Suarez and Lionel Messi.

With just one win in pre-season, Inter Miami’s worldwide tour didn’t exactly do much to strike fear in the hearts of opponents heading into the new MLS year.

And for Gressel, another factor of the tour was that the former Columbus star is yet to really settle on his best position or role in Martino’s Inter Miami team.

Whilst there is still some time before the start of the season, the Argentine coach needs to get to work soon to nail down a role for Gressel alongside Suarez and Messi.

After all, Gressel is a player who knows MLS like the back of his hands and can be key to Inter Miami in their quest to dominate the division, yet it will all mean nothing if a role can’t be identified for the winger.
