CF Monterrey will reportedly have one of their key players back in time to face Inter Miami in tomorrow night’s CONCACAF Champions Cup clash.

The Herons travel to Mexico to take on what might be one of the biggest games in the club’s short history, with Inter Miami set on winning the Champions Cup this season.

Currently down 2-1 on aggregate, Inter Miami will need a big performance from the likes of Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi if they’re to book their place in the semi-finals of the competition.

Yet according to journalist Fernando Schwartz, Monterrey will be with their club captain and veteran defender Hector Moreno, who is back in training ahead of tomorrow’s clash against Inter Miami.

One of Mexico’s all-time great defenders, the 36-year-old center-back featured in last week’s clash in Florida before coming off at half-time due to a muscular problem.

However, Moreno has since fully recovered from this issue, and the Monterrey captain is now expected to return to action tomorrow to face Messi’s Inter Miami.

Schwartz said: “The good news is that Stefan Medina, the Colombian who did not travel to Miami, and Hector Moreno trained today, who came off against Inter Miami last week due to muscle discomfort.”

Even at 36, Moreno has shown over the years that the Mexican defender is still one of the best in North America, having played for the likes of PSV Eindhoven, AS Roma and Real Sociedad.

And for Inter Miami, Moreno returning to action could be a major problem for the Herons, who already face a big task tomorrow night in Monterrey in getting a two-goal win.

Indeed, Monterrey’s experience in the competition coupled with the return of Moreno could be too much for the Herons, and Inter Miami will need to have the game of their lives if they’re to get something.
