Inter Miami coach Javi Morales has issued an update on Luis Suarez’s fitness after Thrusday’s Champions Cup clash against Nashville.
The 37-year-old striker started his fourth game of the season for the Herons despite coming into the new MLS campaign looking rusty and slow in pre-season.
However, Suarez has turned a big corner in recent games, with the attacker scoring a last-gasp equaliser for Inter Miami against Nashville after bagging a brace last weekend against Orlando City.

And speaking to the Miami Herald, assistant coach Morales has hinted that Inter Miami are keeping a close eye on Suarez’s fitness, with the issue over-playing the forward now coming into question.
With Lionel Messi experiencing similar questioning, Inter Miami owe it to their star players to keep them rested and to allow them to miss games, something Suarez might need more than anyone.
Morales said on Suarez’s fitness: “Luis is fine as far as the injury goes, he has played all the games, and scored two goals in the last home game and one goal on Thursday. The injury is fine, and he can play.
“But what we have talked about is Luis, Leo, all the players, have been playing a lot of minutes during this stretch and we have to manage it the best we can because it’s a long season and we’re just starting. We can’t do anything crazy. Same as Leo, we will talk to Luis and see how he feels.”
Herons should rest Luis Suarez tonight vs CF Montreal
With Inter Miami in action tonight against CF Montreal at home, today is as good a day as ever to give the likes of Suarez the break they deserve from the pitch.
The forward has started every game for Inter Miami this season and on Thursday completed the full 90 in Tennessee, with Messi also in need of a similar break from action.
With Inter Miami more than capable of beating Montreal with Suarez or even Messi, the pair should be given a much-needed break, even if it might bring about some questions from supports hoping to see the soccer legends.
