Robbie Robinson reportedly left Inter Miami’s pre-season tour due to a calf injury, with the 25-year-old seemingly returning to the United States.
The midfielder was initially announced as a part of the Herons’ Asia leg of their worldwide winter tour, with Robinson named in the squad that would travel to Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and Japan.
However, Robinson would not make a single pre-season appearance for Inter Miami despite being named in the traveling party to Asia, raising fears over the midfielder’s future at the club.

Yet as reported by the Miami Herald’s Michelle Kaufman, the reasoning behind Robinson’s absence and subsequent return to Florida was due to calf injury the 25-year-old picked up.
A player who Lionel Messi seemingly rates, Robinson’s injury is just the latest in what has been a number of issues for the MLS franchise this pre-season, who have lost key players already due to fitness problems.
Indeed, whilst Robinson wasn’t going to be a starter for the new season, the midfielder having to pull out of pre-season is yet another injury blow Inter Miami could have done without, with the tour proving to be too much for some players.
Inter Miami will hope Robbie Robinson’s injury isn’t severe

As mentioned, Robinson won’t be the first name on the teamsheet for Inter Miami heading into the 2024 MLS season, though that doesn’t mean the 25-year-old has zero role for the Herons.
The road ahead for Inter Miami will be long and full of challenges, with injuries expected as Tata Martino and Messi hope to lead the Florida franchise to success in both MLS and beyond.
And for that to happen, Inter Miami will need every available body needed, and Robinson will be once such player who can play a key role for the Herons in the months to come.
As a result, fans will be helpful that Robinson’s injury isn’t as severe as first though, with the midfielder clearly good enough to star in MLS alongside the likes of Messi.
