Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has reportedly handed in a transfer request, and his previous comments may indicate that a move to Inter Miami is on the table.

The 31-year-old has had a difficult few years at PSG, with injuries and off-field drama not allowing him to perform to the best of his capabilities on the pitch, and he has now expressed his desire to leave the French capital.

The problem he faces, is that given his salary, potentially large transfer or loan fee, and injury record, there isn’t much of a market for him. Anyone who can currently afford him, may not want to gamble on him.

This could open the door for a sensational move to Inter Miami, and his previous comments suggest that he would be open to a move.

Speaking in 2020, he claimed that he would love to play for David Beckham’s franchise one day.

“I told him I will play there one day,” Neymar stated of Beckham and Miami.

“I believe this is a great opportunity for the country to grow its soccer. As I said before, I already have my contract with David. A few years from now, I will be there.”

Could Inter Miami sign Neymar?

PSG were reportedly willing to accept a loan deal for the Brazilian superstar earlier this summer, and if this is the case, then Miami may have a shot of landing him.

Neymar was described as “world-class” by former manager Christoph Galtier less than a year ago, and he would be a major coup for both Miami and the MLS.

He could reunite with his ex-Barcelona teammates in Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, and start to enjoy his football again after his difficult spell in France.

It remains to be seen whether the Brazil star would want to depart Europe right now, but if there are no top clubs interested in signing him, then he may be tempted to fulfil his promise of playing for Miami sooner than he expected.
