Inter Miami are reportedly set to again loan out Emerson Rodriguez to Santos Laguna, though the Herons want the 23-year-old to be sold permanently.

The Colombian winger spent 2023 with the Mexican side, making 31 appearances in all competitions with the Liga MX club, scoring twice and assisting another two during the year.

Having now returned to Inter Miami this January, a lot of speculation has been made about Rodriguez’s future, with the youngster not named in Tata Martino’s traveling squad to El Salvador.

Now, according to TUDN, Inter Miami have reached an agreement to send Rodriguez back to Santos, though the MLS franchise were eager to sell the South American for good.

Indeed, with Inter Miami adding Julian Gressel to their roster this transfer window, it makes sense why the Herons are now open to cutting their losses on Rodriguez.

And for Santos, they might soon regret not signing the 23-year-old permanently, especially if Rodriguez has a breakout year in Mexico in Liga MX.

Whilst some details on Rodriguez’s second loan move to Santos are foggy, there is a general idea already that the winger could be returning to Inter Miami in 2025.

And for Martino’s side, they will be hoping that the attacker does better in Mexico this year compared to what Rodriguez managed to last season.

Clubs are clearly interested in the Inter Miami youngster, and the Herons can make quite the profit if Rodriguez explodes in Mexico this year, a situation that could well happen.
