David Beckham fuels Inter Miami transfer speculation after meeting superstar

Inter Miami co-owner has played a huge role in recruiting global stars Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba to the club, and he may have hinted at another major recruit.

The former England star was pictured with Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric in Croatia over the weekend, and this has led to speculation that Modric could join the club.

Modric has recently signed a one-year extension with Real Madrid to stay for this season, but this could be his final campaign, and a move to MLS may not yet be ruled out for the veteran.

Whilst they did not play together, Beckham and Modric are two very well-respected figures in Real Madrid’s history, and this connection may play a part in any potential move.

Modric is one of the greatest midfielders of all time, and even won the Ballon D’or in 2018, breaking the streak of Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo winning it every year.

Could Modric join Miami next year?

Given that Real Madrid have headed down a young route with their midfield, Modric may end up leaving next summer, ending what would be a 12 year spell at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Having turned down multiple offers from Saudi Arabia, Inter Miami may perhaps be a more appealing destination.

Despite the Barcelona links that come with Messi, Busquets and Alba, the idea of Modric and Busquets in the same midfield, even at their ages, is a really exciting one.

It remains to be seen what Miami’s squad building and financial situations will look like in a year, but if Modric is indeed looking for a new club, then Beckham could have a major role to play in his future.

Modric has won the Champions League five times, and will go down as one of the greats of the game, having also helped Croatia reach a World Cup final.
