Fabrizio Romano has detailed that Lionel Messi has never thought about leaving Inter Miami on loan amid transfer speculation.

Taking to Twitter, the Italian transfer journalist revealed that the Argentine superstar is not planning on departing Florida for a return to FC Barcelona, who reportedly want to sign Messi on loan.

The MLS off-season has often presented a chance for top players in the division to return to Europe for a few months on loan, with David Beckham the most famous example having joined AC Milan from the LA Galaxy.

Yet Messi won’t be joining in the soccer legend’s footsteps, with the Inter Miami captain set to remain with the Herons ahead of their pre-season tour of Asia.

Indeed, the 36-year-old seems committed to the MLS franchise, and 2024 is expected to be a massive year for Inter Miami and Messi, who will have silverware on their mind.

Messi, when fit and firing, was easily the best player in MLS this season. And the forward opting to remain with Inter Miami ahead of the new year is nothing short of massive.

The Herons know that they will be tipped as favourites for MLS Cup next year with Messi likely to be fully fit for the start of the new season, with more superstar signings also expected in Florida.

And the Argentine staying in America this winter and remaining with Inter Miami will be massive for the franchise, who will want to get their pre-season preparations spot on this year ahead of 2024.
