Leonardo Campana has been the highest-profile departure from Inter Miami this January, with the Ecuador international a regular for the Herons last year.
The former Wolves striker carved a useful niche for himself in Tata Martino’s side as the main backup option for Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, though that still wasn’t enough to stop Campana from being traded to the New England Revolution this January.
Campana’s departure, though, has allowed the Herons to free up a Designated Player spot, with Inter Miami already linked with Neymar as well as Colombia international James Rodriguez as their next big-name signing.
And Inter Miami’s front office now think they have a path that leads to the signing of Neymar.

Inter Miami believe they can sign Neymar this summer
According to AS, Inter Miami believe they are slowly gathering all the pieces needed to sign Neymar this summer, with the Brazil international keen to leave Saudi Arabia once his contract with Al-Hilal expires at the end of the Saudi Pro League season.
With Neymar admitting he wants to reunite with Messi and Suarez, Inter Miami putting a plan into action to land the Brazilian international at some point this year is an exciting prospect for supporters, even if it means waiting.
Indeed, the departure of Campana and the freeing up of a Designated Player spot opens up a whole world of possibilities for Inter Miami when it comes to making a big signing in 2025 to complement Messi and Suarez.
And with Neymar now viewed as that signing for Inter Miami, the correct dominos need to fall into place if the Herons are to secure what could be the biggest transfer in their history after the 2023 capture of Messi.

Who are Inter Miami interested in signing this January?
With Inter Miami only signing Fafa Picault this month, there’s plenty of business for the Herons to do before the start of the new MLS season next month, with numerous rumors flying around heading into the 2025 campaign.
Yet the Florida franchise do indeed seem to be close to a number of signings, with Inter Miami reaching an agreement for Telasco Segovia from Casa Pia in a transfer worth $2.5m having also struck a deal with San Lorenzo for defender Gonzalo Lujan.
Indeed, Inter Miami are only getting started this January in the transfer window, and whilst Neymar might not be coming this month, plenty of signings could be made to put Javier Mascherano’s side in the perfect position to give the Brazilian the platform needed to thrive in MLS.
