Inter Miami’s off season overhaul continues.

After struggling in the latter half of the season with injuries, and international duty, the Herons failed to make the playoffs.

Committed to making sure that doesn’t happen again, Inter Miami’s front office will make changes.

Already, the club has brought in striker Luis Suarez and, according to The Athletic, is in talks to bring free agent wing-back Julian Gressel to the organization.

“We’re evaluating every department in our front office and performance staff, to support [Tata Martino] and his staff and all the players to make sure we’re performing everywhere in the club,” Sporting Director Chris Henderson said in his end-of-year conference.

“Without tipping what we’re going to do in trades, I do feel that we need to have competition in every spot.”

One trade that recently went through raised some eyebrows across the league.

On January 4th, Inter Miami announced that they traded defender Kamal Miller for $625,000 in allocation money.

Praised by ex-Canada manager John Herdman as ‘brilliant,’ Miller was a supporter’s favorite, often lauded for his hustle and passion.

However, the Canada international was inconsistent and slow at times against opposition forwards. In the trade, Miami will not only receive an ample amount of General Allocation Money, but an international roster spot.

This will provide the South Florida club with cap flexibility and more wiggle room to add quality players.

The Herons have been linked with several center backs already, including Botafogo’s Victor Cuesta and Boca Junior’s Marcos Rojo.

Though none of these links have come to fruition yet, it’s only a matter of time before Miami adds defenders to its already talent-riddled squad.
