Antoine Griezmann has been linked with a move to MLS for quite some time, and as a result, Inter Miami’s name has often been in the mix for the 33-year-old.

The Atletico Madrid attacker has been one of the best forwards in Europe in the last ten years, with Griezmann leading France to the 2018 FIFA World Cup and ranking third in two Ballon d’Or ceremonies in 2016 and 2018.

With Inter Miami believed to be interested in signing Griezmann next year, the former FC Barcelona star would be quite the addition for the Herons given his fantastic form in the last 18 months and the Frenchman’s eagerness to play in MLS.

Yet Inter Miami could now miss out on signing Greizmann because of Lionel Messi.

Lionel Messi’s new Inter Miami contact could block Griezmann transfer

According to AS, Messi’s new contract with Inter Miami could put an end to the Herons’ interest in Griezmann, with the report stating that the Atletico talisman is already strongly considering a move to MLS rivals Los Angeles FC.

With Messi keen to sign a new deal with Inter Miami, the Florida franchise sticking to the Argentine international as their star attacker makes a lot of sense given how good the 37-year-old was this year when fit and available.

Moreover, whilst Griezmann would be an incredible signing for Javier Mascherano’s side, Inter Miami’s interest in Neymar appears to have taken center stage in recent weeks, with the Brazil international the top target for the Herons.

Indeed, Inter Miami missing out on Griezmann could be a blessing in disguise given the amount of world-clas quality Mascherano’s side have already been linked with, and the prospect of making a bigger signing than the former France star seems likely heading into January.

Missing out on Griezmann makes things easier for Mascherano

With Mascherano interested in signing Angel Di Maria coupled with Inter Miami’s eagerness on bringing in Mohamed Salah, it’s safe to say that a world-class attacker will be brought in this January to help play alongside Messi.

And although Griezmann did play with Messi and Luis Suarez at Barcelona, there are better options out there in the market who could be seen by many fans as better signings than the Atletico superstar next month.

A Neymar or Di Maria could benefit Inter Miami hugely in the 2025 season, and supporters would rather see one of these names in the squad than Griezmann, even with the French striker in top form since returning to Madrid.
