Inter Miami have reportedly gone cold on signing Jesse Lingard, with the former Manchester United star still a free-agent.

The 31-year-old attacking midfielder is yet to sign for a new club having departed Nottingham Forest last summer, with Lingard training at Inter Miami’s DRV PNK Stadium during the off-season.

However, despite plenty of rumors, the Herons are yet to make an official move for Lingard, who has also attracted interest from the likes of D.C. United and Saudi Arabia.

And according to Goal, Inter Miami’s interest in Lingard has gone cold, with the Florida franchise unlikely to sign the England international despite strong interest in recent weeks.

Once praised by Rio Ferdinand as an ‘amazing’ player, it makes sense why Inter Miami are not so keen on bringing Lingard to MLS this winter.

Having already signed Luis Suarez and Julian Gressel, the Herons have filled out their attacking ranks nicely this transfer window, and adding Lingard to the squad could unbalance things.

Inter Miami should have signed Jesse Lingard last summer

Lingard’s career since returning from West Ham on loan has been one misstep after another, with the former United star now stuck in career limbo.

And in retrospect, Inter Miami should have made the decision to sign Lingard in the summer, with the attacking midfielder more than good enough to star in MLS.

Adding the England international would have lessened the burden placed on Lionel Messi’s shoulders in the second half of the season for Inter Miami.

And Lingard himself could have thrived in MLS, with the England international clearly keen on a move to the States, something that might now be off the table for the forward.
