Inter Miami are in full transfer mode, with Javier Mascherano putting plans into place to improve the squad for next season.

Despite winning the Supporters’ Shield with a record regular-season points record, Inter Miami were disappointed in 2024 having failed to clinch MLS Cup or the CONCACAF Champions Cup, with their bid to reclaim Leagues Cup also ending in disaster.

As a result, the Herons have been on a mission to do one thing this January; improve the central defense, with Inter Miami already making bids for Colo-Colo defender Maximiliano Falcon and Sao Paulo’s Nahuel Ferraresi.

Yet the Florida franchise have been met with an unwelcome response for their bid to sign Ferraresi.

Inter Miami bid rejected by Sao Paulo for Ferraresi

According to Antenados No Futebol, Inter Miami have seen their opening bid for Ferraresi rejected by Sao Paulo, with the Brazilian giants willing to sell the 26-year-old center-back for just over $5m this January.

A former Manchester City defender, has enjoyed success playing across top leagues in Europe and South America, with Ferraresi also a regular for the Venezuela national team since making his debut back in 2018.

And a move to MLS could now be on the cards for Ferraresi, with Inter Miami making their first official approach for the former FC Porto defender as Mascherano looks to improve his back line going into next season.

Indeed, Ferraresi has the resume to be a massive success at Inter Miami, and the Herons could feel confident in getting a deal across the line if a second, more convincing offer is made in the coming weeks.

Who else are Inter Miami interested in signing this January

The defense might be the priority for Inter Miami this January, but Mascherano and his team are looking further afield when it comes to new signings this month, with plenty of exciting names linked with the Herons.

Neymar has once again emerged as a target for Inter Miami with James Rodriguez also on the Heron’s radar following his release from La Liga side Rayo Vallecano, a deal that could gain pace in the coming weeks.

2025 is shaping up to be a massive year for Inter Miami, and with the right signings in the right positions, the Florida franchise could become a force in MLS and beyond with Lionel Messi at the helm for the Chase Stadium side.
